should i add a resonator to exhaust system ?

Hi all. I have a Spider with a 4 into 2 stock exhaust manifold and a muffler. It is a little too loud for me especially while cruising. It does get very loud when I accelerate hard. Would adding a resonator quiet it down sufficiently without robbing power ?

Do you has a catalytic converter on the car? A good place to add a resonator is where the catalytic converter goes if you do not have a CAT. You can add a muffler without creating any measurable backpressure is you use a free flow muffler with sound absorption. Even some of the chambered mufflers will create minimal backpressure.

Short answer, yes, a resonator will change the tone/sound of the exhaust and lower the volume a little by changing the sound wave.

Stock is muffler + resonator. Resonators do not curb the overall decibel of an exhaust system though, they take out certain unwanted frequencies at specific load ranges. It should eliminate the drone.

I just replaced my exhaust with all stock components and it has a nice note and volume to it.
