Just checking in. Don't currently own any Fiats but have owned three in the past - all 124 Spyders (1974, 1979 and 1981).
Of all the cars I've ever owned, the Spyder is in my top 2 favorites (the other is an old 1970 Toyota Landcruiser so it's in a completely different catagory).
Hoping to talk my wife into getting another one and I'm VERY glad to see this BB where I'm sure I'll get some good advice.
Araknid (that's what I had on my license plates)

I've been exiled to Central Florida for the last 20 years.

Welcome to the site. Spiders are great cars and a wonderful hobby. Just ask your wife where else can you get into really fun hobby, meet new people, attend lots of events and generally experience the passion of vintage Italian car ownership for less than five grand??? And these cars don't depreciate, and in fact will slowly increase in value over time. Go for it! You know you won't regret it.

Welcome Jeff! With a name like Jeff living in Florida and loving fiats you must be a true genius! I have spent a lot of time traveling around Montana as well but continue to live here in South Florida where Fiats love to live. I wish you success with your Fiat goals.

Welcome to the forum. Good luck sweet talking your sweetie into getting back into a Spider. I had to do the same thing, so I know what you're going through. Out of curiosity, did you prefer the carb'd or FI Spiders?

Thanks for all the welcomes!
As for my preference (carb or fi), The '81 I had was injected and I never had any problems with it that I had to deal with personally. I vaguely remember some issues with the carb on the '74. That said though, if I can get back into a Spyder now, I think I might prefer working on an old-fashioned carb'd engine. I don't really have the money to have a shop work on it and I'm not too up-to-date when it comes to FI, computerized engines & such. Besides, I do remember that it was actually kinda pleasant to work on the the older engines. Satisfying I guess. I recently bought a 1999 Saab for my son and working on it is a completely different and generally unpleasant experience.
