Massachusetts in-state auto transport/tow

Post by KLC356 »

Have a roller project car need to transport 50 miles from North Attleboro to Scituate. Got some quotes of $300. Anyone know of any options?

Thanks

I had thoughts of that! I am the kind of person that would get caught defrauding AAA and be used as an example to other AAA members, front page of newspaper, local TV news story - that would be me.

And my policy covers about 3 miles...

I don't believe it is illegal or fraudulent to do this. I did use AAA years ago to get a 1971 Volvo that I just purchased. You could call AAA and ask their policy on this. Once my 73 Spider broke down, I found a telephone booth and upgraded my account and got a 100 mile tow home. Was a while ago, note "telephone booth"

It may be AAA row drivers do not care and do not ask. But it is in AAA rules. I just can’t take the risk - I would look suspicious.

There you go, Then I would say 300.00 is a fair price. Just shop around. Around 300.00 to rent a car dolly and still need a truck to haul it. I brought my car home to Mass. from NJ with a friend on a U-Haul dolly, cost was around 600.00 including gas, tolls and a bit more for his trouble

If you rent the trailer, I would haul it for you for a hundred and 50 bucks plus the actual cost of gas and tolls, but you are going to find that 300 is the better option. I would need to go from Sagamore Beach, meet you wherever the U-Haul outlet is to pick up the trailer, go to Attleboro, go to Scituate, go return the trailer, and go back to Sagamore Beach. Takes up pretty much an entire day. If nothing goes wrong.

Worry not, but be watchful and verify. I have had very good luck with CL, as long as you don't let the nuts advance too far after initial contact. :?

FYI
Tow complete with no issues. Nice guy. Hopefully I can tinker on it before weather really hits. I do not have a garage for winter .

I bought a shelter from Shelter Logic through Amazon, no shipping charges. Storing for the winter in Sagamore Beach.

Next year I will be able to get a 5th car inside, but I am in the middle of a lot of re-construction of the space, and the risk of possibly damaging someone's property in the shop area is too high. But feel free to contact me about lining up Winter storage next year. And it will be heated by then. Scituate is reasonably close by. By putting the cars on dollys and spinning them, I can get quite a few Spider-sized cars inside.

Thank you for the offer! The real deal is this - I just moved to this house. It has garage that was turned into a bedroom. One of my kids is planning to move out next year. So if all goes right, I can convert back to a garage next year or sometime after. And then have the workshop and heated garage I want.

Sounds like good plan! We just moved to Sagamore Beach ourselves, and the house has an ~2000 sq ft garage, with another ~1000 above. A garage with a house included instead of the other way around. I am peeling off ~1000 sq ft to restart my cabinetmaking business after a 4 year absence, but will still have plenty of space to store a few cars and bikes!
