Hi all, I live in Zimbabwe. I still have a farm! Restoring classic sports cars is my passionate hobby. Not an easy thing to do in “wild” Africa. I started with the common British sports cars, MGs, Triumphs, etc.. until I discovered an Alfa 1750 GTV, a Fulvia Sports Zagato (series1) a Fulvia Coupe (series 2a) a Fiat 124 Coupe (AC) and a 124 Coupe (CC). I love Italian cars, but have hung onto my Sunbeam Tiger MK 1 and early MGB GT, not forgetting a Morris Minor and Series 2a Landrover Dormobile. I am retired, and when not working on my cars, I am either planning a fishing trip to the Zambezi or Lake Kariba, watching sport on TV, or contemplating a visit to our offspring scattered around the globe. The next sojourn is across to my son in Barcelona in October, which coincides with the Padova Classic Car Show and Autojumble in Italy. I can’t for the life of me remember which event was the reason for the trip!! With the aid of 2 full time assistants, I do everything myself, from tear down to complete rebuild, panel beating, spraying, engine rebuild etc... I am by no means professional, but follow the philosophy, espesciially in Africa, that if someone else can do it, then so can I. I am fortunate in that aI have all the tools and equipment and of course time. My latest project is the restoration of the 124 AC Coupe which I decided to return to original 1438cc motor. Hence my reason for joining this forum. I need advice on standard piston selection. I will search the various topics on this first, to prevent any repetitive discussion.
Cheers
Duddles
Greetings from Zimbabwe
