Seat Belt Wires

Post by rodo »

I don't want to have my seat belt wires hooked up/buzzer working. My factory belts are, well, they are totally shot. Going to be replacing them with aftermarket. What have others done to disconnect the buzzer/wiring for the belt warning? Hope that this is not too stupid a question. I'm electrically impaired.

If you lower the relay panel in the passenger footwell, you will most likely find the buzzer device, in my 77 there are 2 wires, one orange and white, and second black and white. You can disconnect them from the buzzer and that should stop the device.

thanks Odoyle. What about this: I unplug the two wires going to the female part of the seatbelts and instead of just cutting them off, I plug them together? Surely the way that switch works is that it makes the connection when the seatbelt is plugged in (as opposed to blocking the flow of electricity to activate the buzzer?

That sounds like what I did years ago, but it's been a very long time, so I could remember incorrectly.
