Just joined and I am just starting in the Fiat world with a retirement project.
A 1973 124 Sport Coupe with a 1995cc engine from a 1979 131 and the 5 sp transmission from the 131 as well. Car was in a garage for last 15+ years but would start and idle but overheated quickly and leaked coolant. Blown head gasket was suspected and confirmed after head removed. Two combustion chambers on head also badly damaged by errant piece of metal. Machine shop advised would be expensive to fix and better to find a replacement head which I just managed to do. Found the removal of the head to be straight forward and finding this engine is a really nice piece of period engineering. Everything makes sense. Love the bucket tappets with shims.
Car has a Weber ADFA 32 carburator with some kind ad hoc half rod/cable activation system.
cheers

Congratulations & welcome to the Fiat world. Be sure to check out Mirafiori as well. I am a big fan of 124 Coupes...heck, more so than Spiders, actually. You may already know this (or it may be too late), but prepping a 1.8 (1756cc, 1974-1978) for your 2L block is always a nice option if the bottom end is good or stock (even if not stock, possibly, but do the math) as it bolts right on, gets rid of a lot of the vestigial emissions ports and offers a modest increase in CR. No matter what, have fun with it!
