I have a hole right i front of the steering wheel, 12 o'clock at the steering column and towards the bottom.
I can seem to make out what that is intended for, I am sure you'all know. Is that for a switch, or an indicator light?
Could keep guessing...

Could it be for the barrel knob you use to turn the trip odometer back to zero with?

That's exactly what the hole is for -- trip reset knob for the odometer.
