hello from the mountains of northern calif.

Post by Hayfork »

Hi everyone I am new to this Fiat thing. I just bought a 1979 2000 Spider cause I always loved how they looked. I have never worked on one before, but taking a close inspection of this car I am sure I will be needing some help with questions that I have along the way. My wife and I live way up in the mountains, so there isn't anywhere that I could take the car to anyway. Looking foreward to getting to work.

Well howdy Hayfork! Sounds like you live pretty close to heaven. Maybe except in winter.
I live in a little different part of California, southern edge of the Mojave desert.
You just joined a great forum, you'll find a lot of people who are going to help as much as you need. These cars are really pretty easy to work on, just have to get a little practice on the things that are different: the overhead cams in particular. Even these are not brain surgery.
The site is so popular that usually a response comes in on a question within the hour, if not in minutes.
Welcome, and post some pics of your new car. (Lotta '79's showing up lately)

welcome Hayfork.

I have a carbureted 1980, so we are REALLY similar in our tech needs. Let us all know how we can help.

Hi

Nice to hear from a "local" fiat owner. I live near Oak Run. I have a 79 Brava-recently out of storage, and an 82 FI Spider, which occasionally sees Trinity County. I have lots of parts, a little mechanical experience. Contact me if I can be of any assistance, or if you'd like to meet for a drive.
