Panhard rod question

Trying to sort out suspension noises and one issue is the panhard rod is touching the bracket that connects the upper (shorter) trailing arm to the rear axle (driver side). Doesn't seem right to me (metal against metal). How should it look? Going to fix temporary rubber piece to panhard to keep two apart and see whether that has any effect. Anybody have any ideas or pics on how it should look?

Sounds like your panhard rod is bent, or someone put an early style one on the car. Yours should have a hump in the middle to clear the differential. If you look down the length of the rod, it should be straight except for the hump.

It does have the hump to bypass the differential. But its quite possible that its the wrong rod. It will probably help if I take a photo tomorrow and post it.

This is a picture of the panhard rod touching the connection of the upper trailing arm to the axle. This is on the driver's side. There is a hair widths gap between the two but will touch and cause creaking when the car is in motion. It doesn't seem right to me. How should it look?

Looks like it's on upside down. The bend should be toward the back of the car. If I remember right.

The picture was taken from the rear. So the bend in the panhard rod is going round the differential (to the right of the photo), which it should. I did wonder whether it had been incorrectly fitted by a previous owner but it would foul on the differential as far as I can see.

I do not remember such a big gap between the mount for the trailing arm and the axle tube. Something looks off there like a weld has let loose and the mount has spun up.

Wow, thanks for that. I will have to get under mine again to see what's different (apart from the obvious).

Difficult to tell but the far end of panhard rod on the driver's side I can't see the upper support arm but it looks a good inch away from the axle bracket. Is that right?

Check the welds on the trailing arm mounts on the axle. From the pictures yours appear to be coming undone. Is the left rear wheel further forward than the right?
