Passenger side wire harness - tach and ign wire

Post by architect »

Hello - recovering a wire harness on the passenger side of a 78 124.

Can someone please ID the color combo for:

-tach wire
-ign wire (+) to coil

About to switch over to an Allison Distributorles ignition... and my harness is a mess from the previous owner.

Thank you!

I believe when t he ignition switch is in the "on and Start" positions power is supplied to the coil terminal B+ through a light blue/black wire.
On the D terminal of the coil the signal wire for the tachometer is a brown wire . I think there is also a second brown wire on that terminal that goes to the ignition control relay.

Thanks for the input - I pulled the coil out a few months ago... and totally forgot to take a picture of the wire setup. At the moment it didn’t matter because the harness was a complete mess. I now have removed all the electrical tape and cleansed it up.. to where it’s only the factory colored wires.

Power from for the ignition - in my case blue wire with black stripe
and brown wire to the tach.
