First off I must say this is an awsome board! Anyway just picked up a 1979 spider 2000! This will be my son's first car/project. It is nice to back in the Fiat family, I had a '75 X19 years ago. I wish I had kept that little go cart. So our project should be a lot of fun. It only has 49k original miles, a couple of dings, and needs a top and one tail light. It had been sitting for many years. We did get it running with very little trouble. I thought "Lucas" (the prince of darkness) wiring was a challange... but I have to say the Luigi's is more entertaining. Yep lots of grounds to clean and chase. Need to replace the fuel pick up and sender unit. I will try to get some Pic's up soon. My son says no pics until it gets cleaned up. In the mean time thanks for all the great info and advise.
Don't ask about the screen name.. late at night with fat fingers ( I had a bad ground) Should have been Cobalt200

welcome! don't worry about posting "before" pics, that way the "after" pics look so much better!
Re: New Seattle area member
Hey, Mike. Welcome. is that '79 completely stock, or are mods already included? Are any mods planned immediately?
Luigi is far more forgiving than Lord Lucas ever thought to be. With Lucas, there is no mastery of the game, only constant participation. Luigi lets us win ever once in a while.

Welcome aboard Mike. You have other Fiaters in your neighborhood. Look up Fiat Enthusiasts Northwest for a good group of people to gather with. What area are you in? I'm transplanted from up there, raised in Lake Stevens, and used to go over the hill to Everett for cruisin'. And I agree, before pictures make it all the better to admire your and your son's progress.

Welcome! Father son projects are great. My son just turned six, so he isn't much help working on the car just yet. But I did help him change an innertube on the front of his bike this week -- got to start them early!

Yes it is totally stock. The radio is missing, but it does have power windows and luggage rack Pretty interesting history. The last owner purchased in 1980 from her good friend as her first car. the car lived on San Juan Island it whole life. Stored in a Hanger on at the San Juan Island airport. ( this is a very small island) There were a few tears as we loaded it on the trailer. But she was also really happy to see it go to someone as a first car as well.mbouse wrote:Hey, Mike. I'm sure there will be a few minor mods along the way. The exhaust sytem will be first, as it is shot.
As for Luigi, We have won all battles so far. We now have working windows, interior light, brake lights, wipers, vent/heater fan, and even the radiator fan and trunk light now work!

You're car wouldn't happen to be red, would it? You need to move the camera back a ways.
