Mystery wires under back seat

Post by Arved »

Hithere, I removed the back seat bench and found two wires that coming from under the driver side door carpet.

One wire is white and black striped with the strips perpendicular to the length of the wire
The other is red and black striped with the stripes running along the length of the wire.

I cannot find a wiring diagram for a 79 carbureted car. If you can point me that would be fantastic. Also any idea as to what these wires were for would be great.

I think that those are the driver seat belt chime wires but mine were on the floor immediately behind the driver seat rather than under the rear seat.

Wow thanks for the diagram. I can't find that color code anywhere there though. What you say seems reasonable as the seatbelts receptacles were replaced with some that do not have a sensing unit, which would leave the cables dangling.

Thanks

I have a 1980 wife diagram with colors. It shows a pink/black and a white /black wire going to the drivers seat belt switch. So I think the previous suggestions of Seat belt system are correct.

Do you have a wife diagram for a 1974 model? I sure could use one!

People have been trying to make "wife" diagrams for centuries. As far as I know none are accurate.

Sorry for the bad joke.

I use the 1974 wire diagram on Mirafiori.com. You have to join the site to access the library where the wire diagrams are. After you log in select "library" the "124" then Wire diagrams and scroll down for the 1974. Its a 2 page diagram so I printed it and taped the pages together.

Arved, greetings. I have just replaced my seat belts and the two wires you described were connected to the driver side seat belt buckle receptor.
