Hi,
i have a water choke on my 79 2000. I operates as it should when starting and is open when the motor is warm. My issue is when the motor is warming, the choke plate seems to open early as the idle drops and the motor will stall. as the motor continues to warm, the idles rises and stalling ceases. The indicator marks on the choke housing and body are aligned.
My question - does turning the housing change the rate/temp at which the choke plate opens? If so, any advice on how far to turn it?
Thanks in advance.

Re: is water choke adjustable?
Assuming your water choke is like the one on my 34 adf and I'm pretty sure all weber water chokes are the same, you can adjust both the spring tension for the choke flap and the choke's idle speed.
To adjust the spring tension for the choke flap:
Remove air cleaner
Set choke by depressing the accelerator pedal to the floor
Don't start the car
Check the current spring tension on the flap by opening it with your finger
Loosen the 3 bolts on the housing and rotate the housing capsule. Toward the passenger side will increase the tension toward the driver side will loosen the tension. Note: it's been awhile so I may have that backwards
Check the tension again on the flap by opening it with your finger. Those alignment marks are really only for reference.
Start the car.
To increase or decrease the choke idle speed:
Set the choke
The long screw that disappears into the choke housing rides on a stepped cam
Screwing it in will increase speed and screwing out will lower it.
Good luck

Re: is water choke adjustable?
Rrotated the housing to the driver's side (anti-clockwise) about 10mm, too far and then idle was rough. Reduce movement to about about 3 mm from lining up, now runs as it should when cold and warming up.
Hope this helps others
