Need help - what is it and where do the wires go?

Found this on top of transmission tunnel after I gutted interior for POR 15, EZ Cool and carpet. This was my father's car and he did some jury-rigging (radiator fan and horn both have bypass switches) and fuel pump runs with key on (haven't checked the double relay yet but straightening the AFM arm so switch disengages didn't help).
Anyway, the SAE-style pins were disconnected, and I'm not aware of any other electrical issues.

OK thanks Mark. That's really odd - not something my father would have done and I can't imagine the purpose, but also curious why the connections are apart and what that might be impacting. I'll try to see where the bundle of wires leads, but guess I'll leave well enough alone.

it looks like the controller for the"factory air" that was port installed on later spiders

Thanks Beek - I feel better if that's what it is. There are other unused connections but it just seems strange to see them disconnected when they appear to go together.
