I wasn't sure where to post this so I went with electrical.
I need to take my tail light lenses off to change a bulb and clean them but I am afraid the will crack-I started but stopped because I was uncertain about the process.
Any advice would be much appreciated
Thanks,
David

If you have a 1982 the lens don not come off, you access the bulbs from inside the trunk. The back side of the light assembly is held to the light lens with clips that are part of the lens molding. All the bulbs are mounted on one printed circuit board. The entire board is removed to service or replace a bulb.
I don't have a photo but I'm sure someone will have a good photo for you.

Hi Spiderman
Your lenses are held on by four nuts on each corner of the lens inside the trunk. You can just unclip the black plastic cover to gain access to the circuit board if you are just changing the bulbs. There is no way to clean the inside of the lenses properly.
This is the only way to get to the inside lenses

Here is another option that does work well. Put them in the dishwasher. Just don't use the heated dry mode. Works great.

Just be mindfull that dishwasher detergent can be a bit harsh on the soft aluminum used in some lamp assemblies and can cause some reflective material to turn black.
