Long time lurker... First time poster......

Post by MinnBri »

Hey folks... glad you people are here.
I learned alot just from lurking around. I have a '76 Spider and it has a few issues, but most are getting worked out.
The biggest problem I have now is that the steering wheel has a bearing out. Can some one direct me where to find a bearing. It is the top one. otherwise life is good....you people rock...keep it up...

welcome to the site! Not sure who might have a bearing, but I'll check it out on Thurs and see if they're still available

Hello, and welcome!
How long have you had your Spider? Is it stock, or modified?
And, if you've been lurking a while, you know we want to see pictures.

That makes for a question about the bearings in the steering column. I have taken off the snap ring and want to know how to remove the bearings from it.

good luck on that bearing issue. might be easier to find a whole column..

My bearing kind of fell apart when I took the shaft out.
It looks like the bearings are pressed on, so it'll take some pessure to take them off.
My steering wheel moves up and down a half inch or so....maybe i'm missing something in the turn signal assembly.

there are two machine screws and two hex head bolts that hold the steering column assembly to the bracket under the dash. perhaps some of these fasteners are loose or missing?

the picture in the parts book does not list a bearing. A bushing is listed but noted as not available. Time for a used part probably
