New to you... and to Fiat

Post by joshuagore »

About a year ago I purchased a 80 124 Spider. Because of my inexperience with Fiat I said I would keep the car for year and at the end of that year I would either keep it or sell it. That year is over and no doubt about it, the car is staying. Since I am keeping it I figure its a good idea to start investing in it..... Paint/Flares/Interior.. suprisingly the car is virtually rust free, and has been maintained very very well.

I have a background in German and Japanese cars including BMW, Subaru, Honda, Nissan (Datsun), and I am sure a mess more I am not thinking of. I have had my hand in several turbo builds, 2 from the ground up including fabrication. I am an avid racing enthusiast, either watching or behind the wheel, and although my 124 is not my race car, I am sure my interest in racing and more specifically rally will come into play when modifications/restoration start.

Thanks for a great forum, I look forward to good conversation.

Josh

Welcome Josh. Nice looking ride, thanks for the pictures. We're glad when a dedicated auto-nut gets a Fiat, it helps to keep the marque in good shape.
If you run into something "Itallian" that stumps you, don't hesitate to ask questions. We're all constantly learning.

Welcome to the forum. My background is almost exclusively in BMWs. Like you, I jumped on the Fiat bandwagon a little over a year ago and have never looked back. I got started a little earlier in terms of pouring money in my Spider though. I could've used you last February for my Turbo rebuild! Look forward to seeing your progress -- looks like you're starting with a much better example than most.

OMG yes. I used to work at a sheet metal shop and we had this monster paint line. Now I send all my powder coating to my buddy who still works there. We drop off some dinner on a night he works late, and get it the next morning.

Yes Mike. Crackle paint looks great...on a BMW that is.
