My 82...still not running

Post by ga.spyder »

Without re-hashing my issues my show winning, great running(for 10 trouble free years) 82 Spider is dead.No start,no spark.I have tried switching every component and tried all suggestions....nothing has worked. From cranking on the car so much I killed the battery. That was replaced and I tried cranking and it sounded very weak.I have no power at the large brown wire going into the switch. The only power at the switch was from my aux (brown wire surgery) wire installed many years ago.I have power where the wire splits away from the + cable and runs up into the dash.Nothing at the switch. It has power up until the point it goes behind the stack. My question is where does this wire go when it disappears behind the radio console.I am terrible with wiring!!!
Thanks for all the help and feedback.I am frustrated to the point of getting rid of a car that has been a big part of my life the last 10 years

This thread may help. It's Rroller's Click of Death thread. You may have overloaded the starter circuit. The brown and red wires go to the starter. Check the connector behind the igntion switch. There are connectors of red and brown wires behind the alt.
That's your starter circuit, then you still have your original ignition issue. Denise could figure that out quickly. Maybe pay her a plane ticket out to where you are and she'll sort it out :)
Kidding aside, one thing at a time. Hang in there.

Update on the C31 "click of death" post AriK mentioned: The solution has been faultless since put in place. The direct connections, bypassing the white connector housing, definitely solved the problem.

Arik, Denise is a good friend.I have driven 4 hours to her house to help work on her cars on more than one occasion. She hasnt got a clue what is going on with my car!!
That post is very interesting, and has me hopeful that maybe my issue might not be hopeless!! Thanks Pete and Arik.
