Re: 1980 Spider Restoration
I did the same bumper re-do on my '78. But your front bumper mount looks better than mine. Did you use the original bumper shocks on the front if not what did you use.

Re: 1980 Spider Restoration
I use the original bumper shocks, it saves a bit of money on the brackets and allows some mounting flexibility since I can collapse them to the distance I like

Re: 1980 Spider Restoration
Mark, when did the radio console in fiberglass become available and what is the cost? The last time I checked you only had it in three part plastic, the fiberglass unit looks great and I need one!

Re: 1980 Spider Restoration
So you can use the original tube bump mounts, to mount the new bumper? Any mods needed, or does it mount cleanly? What about the rear?

Re: 1980 Spider Restoration
we have the fiberglass radio consoles, but they come to us completely blank, so it takes some work to mount everything. I haven't advertised them because of that
You have to make some brackets to adapt the bumper to the shock, and of course collapse the shock to get the distance right

Re: 1980 Spider Restoration (door cards)
Mark, another great job. I love the Senna wheels, plan on putting a set on my 81 (current project).
Wanted to ask you about your door panels. I picked up a set of tans (with black uppers) from VICKS and really not impressed with the quality of the black upper panels. Seem to be off at every hole, nothing lines up, the vinyl peeling away from the metal due to bad adhesive or prep when they put them together. I'd have returned them already but color matched the tan to my seats with SEM (before i started assembly and discovered the problems).
Where did you get yours? Also noticed you didn't use the upper stainless trim piece - kind of like it. How'd you do that?
Kind regards
T

Re: 1980 Spider Restoration
I have the panels made at a local upholstery shop that has done all of our interiors.
I drill a hole in the bumper shock, collapse it to the depth I need, then secure it with a pop rivet
