Hi everyone. I'm recently retired(freedom 55) and one of my lifelong dreams has always been to get into car restoration. I've been looking around for awhile(including kit cars) and finally one day last fall, sitting on a tiny little lot in a tiny little town, was my dream. I now own a 74 Fiat 124 Spider, and we love it. I spent an hour or two daily during the winter re/re the suspension bushings, tie rods, steering and idler box's. Rebuilt all 4 brakes and replaced some brake lines.New top and carpets too. It runs most of the time ! And when it does, we love it. We live about 40 Kms east of Vancouver, so we are within driving distance of Vancouver beaches. Our area is rolling hills and farmland, and what a joy to be cruising around with the top down. Problems? oh yea. I've got an electrical gremlin that I haven't resolved...I'll write it up for you guys soon and maybe I'll get soome help. Also looking forward to contacting other BC Spider owners too.

welcome to the forum! You're fortunate to live in a great area. BC seems to be an area with a lot of Spider activity, so I'm sure you'll run across other owners. Post some pics when you have time

Welcome Bigkahuna. I've been watching this forum for a few months now, ever since I got my '81 FI rolling restoration. This is an extraordinarily helpful forum - you will get all the help you need, when you need it.
I live in Sooke, BC, about 30 minutes west of Victoria. I have spotted at least 6 other Fiat Spider's on the road in town (in Victoria), and have spoken to four owners, so we are not alone even in this relatively small city! In fact, a cream colored '78 parked beside me at Home Depot last week. It had been parked for 6 years while its owner was posted elsewhere in the Navy. Now he is retired this week, and thoroughly enjoying his Spider. The week before, I saw a yellow one and a blue one parked in the same block downtown!
Today we took a top-down ride along the coastal road to cool down. What fun! So I know what you mean about the joy of taking it out for the hills and curves.
Show us yours when you have a chance.
