Cylinder Head Nut (not bolt) leaking

Post by joelittel »

The passenger side cylinder 1 head stud/nut is weeping ever so slightly. I get a little coolant forced out of the threads on the nut every time the engine is up to temp.

What would you use to fix this, thread lock - silicone tape - copper washer etc.?

I had the same problem on my motor. I removed the nut and washer, tightened up the stud, put Permatex #2 on the threads and the stud and the washer and the nut. Torqued the nut back up and wiped off all the excess. No more leak!
