Time for a coolant flush. The local auto parts only sells de-ionized water. Opinions online (not here) are all over the map. Does it really make a difference?
Also, does mixing two brands of green coolant (bits leftover in my garage) really a no-no? Most of it would be Prestone, the final parts, bleeding process, topping up, etc. would be STP.

Personally for the minimal cost I wouldn't mix 2 types of coolant but what do I know...AriK wrote:Time for a coolant flush. The local auto parts only sells de-ionized water. Opinions online (not here) are all over the map. Does it really make a difference?

I bought deionized water from Loblaws but I think Cdn Tire has it as well.

My local supermarket sells distilled water. You might check there.

I've mixed green coolants many times without any issues.

Bigger issue to me is how long has the coolant on which the seal has been broken been sitting on the shelf.
Always start off after a coolant flush with fresh and new is how I look at it.
