Choke not turning off/fast idle issues - RESOLVED!

Hello all
Having an issue with this carb, I believe it is a 34adf correct? I'm not big on carbs, never quite been comfortable with them, however... Problem is that the choke doesn't turn off when engine is warm. What I have found is that the two hoses that go into the back of the carb are cold. If i gently let the hose clips off I can get a spurt of coolant and then I get flow, both hoses then warm up and the choke reacts normally i.e it turns off. It's like it has an air bubble or something.
There are NO other issues with the cooling system that i know of, it all works well. I have to say that I replaced the heater valve recently but I can't remember whether it was doing this before or not.
I have shown the carb so that you can see what I'm on about. Has anyone seen this before, if not what direction do the coolant pipes flow into the carb and what on earth is the electrical connector on the side do? Anyone care to explain how this thing works? It seems awfully complicated for a carb.

it's really common for the hoses, nipples and choke cover to get completely clogged. Especially if just water has been used in the cooling system. Just one of the reasons I offer an electric choke cover to replace the water choke

So, Ive been playing with this for the last couple of days in between work etc. The coolant does not seem to be impeded in any way at all, just a red herring I think. I get full flow through the housing when engine is running.
It seems to be mechanical, I am playing with the adjustment and I think I have it, but then a couple of drives later and it kicks up again. I'm thinking it's the spring mechanism within the choke housing.

Mark - what is this upgrade you speak of, I don't see it on your website?

Check the hi-speed idle screw on the choke lever. Mine was turned in so far that it was always idling 'on choke'' even after warmed up.

I think I have resolved this. I removed the cover to expose the spring mechanism. I have have carefully cleaned all moving parts with brake cleaner, when dry I gave it a light squirt of wd40 over the moving parts. I have slightly adjusted the housing 3 times now and it seems ok now. Choke goes off when it warms up and snaps shut when cold - perhaps better than before. I will update if it fails again. twisting that cover also compresses the spring, I believe. if so, it could be that the spring was wound too tight or loose.
