Now that you have the tumblers lubed and working, i would wait to see if the switch gives you any more trouble before switching it out.Should I consider this ignition switch suspect and order a new one to have on hand?

that ignition switch will lock up again sooner or later. trust me on this one, i've been around 124s and derivatives for past 15 years.
get a new one, and maybe take the old one to a locksmith for service.
remove the lock from coloumn, there's "how to" on the forum, and just leave it hanging from the cables below the dash if you want to use the car

Just thinking out loud here, since the new switches are crap, can't you cut off the lock mechanism from the ignition switch?
