Mike,
He said he is from Towanda, which, according to Google Maps, is right on US Route 6 just NW of Scranton. So the Fiat parade that you organized literally drove right down Main St. in Towanda on July 11 on the way to the Fiat Freakout! Small world isn't it?

Thanks for the welcome! No I didn't go to FFO.....dumb!! I only live 2 1/2 hours away too. Next year.
I got the 81 Spider out this evening and took a few pics of Towanda, my home.
Where the FFO'ers gassed up and gassed up.
The Bradford County courthouse they drove by.

right you are!!
i left about an hour's worth of hard earned cash at that Gulf station too. and, another hour's worth at the BK. Seems to me those streets were MUCH MORE busy when we were there. apparently we attracted quite the crowd, or you found a sleepy Sunday early morning to snap those pictures.

mbouse,
No early Sunday morning pics, they were taken last night(Thurs.). Rt. 6 in Towanda during the day and especially Fridays is very busy and congested. Across the river in Wysox is even worse. Damn, I wish I would have known your route of passing through town and I could have waved you on to FFO. Where did you pick up Rt. 6 at? Very nice drive it is and especially west of Towanda IMO.
<Note to self: Go to FFO next year.>

we congregated in Bowling Green OHIO and traveled across US 6 until we hit i-380 when we turned right to head south. we stopped for lunch PM on Friday in your little burg, after overnighting in Warren PA.
even if you needed to miss FFO, it would have been kinda fun for you to tag along with us to give the locals something go gawk at.

Re: Hello from NE PA
Gulf headquarters was in Pittsburgh, PA. Their skyscraper building had a glass pyramid roof, illuminated internally with red or blue lights, which flashed in Morse "GULF" at night. If tomorrows weather forecast was fair, the color was red; foul was blue. It seemed that every other gas station in the area was their brand. When Chevron (?) bought them, they decided to keep the Gulf name in their home market, to retain some loyal customers.pafiatman wrote:Gulf stations are now only in the northeast.

Here in Baltimore, we have the Bromo Seltzer clock tower as our contribution to wacky stuff. Hmmm, I smell a new thread here ...
