Brake Hose Removal
Brake Hose Removal
1981 FI 2000 spider front brakes. To remove the brake hose from the brake line turn the 10mm nut on the brake line clockwise or counterclockwise?

Re: Brake Hose Removal
Just out of curiosity, are there any CW to loosen nuts/bolts on a spider? IIRC some cars have crank or hub nuts like that, don't they?

Re: Brake Hose Removal
Right hub nut is CW to loosen. About all I ran into during my suspension work. Unlike a 80's MOPAR, even all the lugs are ccw to loosen...

Re: Brake Hose Removal
Removing the hose at the hard line can be very difficult. I've found the best tools for that is Vise Grip 4LW locking pliers

Re: Brake Hose Removal
Thanks for the tips. I was able to disconnect the driver's side brake line without a problem but broke the brake line on the passender's side. Looks like I will have to replace the complete brake line. I have enough line for a repair but it appears that a repair is not possible for a shade tree mechanic like me. Any suggestions for avoiding a brake line replacement?
