Folded Roof Rattles

Post by opus10583 »

Hello,

Roof Frame Noise - Does anyone know of a tried and true process, procedure, or voodoo to isolate and rectify folded Spider roof frame squeaks and rattles? Grease it all up or split Delrin washers, or both?

Thanks,
Mark

There are very few adjustment points, make sure they're good and tight. I'd use dry graphite on the joints. Delrin would turn your rattles into squeaks and I'm not sure how you'd use it in the first place.

Hi Brad,

Thanks! Thinking out loud a little...

I'll try the graphite.

Thanks again,
Mark

I had a rattle I couldn't track down on the 2000.... And finally worked out it was the top latch. Over the years the spring had weakened and when the top was down (and no boot cover on it), the latch would bounce around slightly making an annoying rattle. A quick pinch tightening it up worked fine.

My top never rattled until I got hearing àids. I put on the hold down straps and the rattle is gone. On long drives I wear ear plugs.
