lada ignition switch
I just recently ordered a new ignition switch and it came in a box covered with Russian writing and keys that said lada. I know ladas were based on 124s but the connections onnthe back were different. There was wiring instructions but they didnt quite match. the blue and pink wires are supposed to go to the same place marked by 15 but there is only one 15 connection. I plugged one to the "int" spot and it seens to work ok. But it bogged out and stalled three times under acceleration after that. I had also changed the oil and put seafoam in the tank and carb and the car had had been tilted up on ramps inthe garage for a couple of days. Idles fine but bogs and stalled in 2nd and hard to get restarted. Just happened tonight so i haven't poked around much yet. Any suggestions and does anyone have any experience with this lada switch?

Re: lada ignition switch
stalling has nothing to do with ignition switch
lada switches come in two varieties, depending on year of the car. old type, for lada 2101, 2102, 2103 and 2106 are exact fit to older spiders, at least it was to 1971 car i recently worked on.
"new" type, for lada 2104, 2105, 2107 has plastic on the key with lada stamped on it, and that one has a bit diferent wiring scheme but you already figured out how to re-wire it.
just out of curiosity, how much did you pay for it?

Re: lada ignition switch
thx I assumed the switch was not to blame but I basically guessed at the last connection. how bout this seafoam stuff? ive never used it b4 but I got some good recommendations maybe pouring a little in the running carb hurt? other than that not sure like I said it died under acceleration in 2nd 3 times and took awhile to restart. it idled awhile in the garage before that.

Seafoam is good however Berryman B12 is better. I use their gallon dip tank when rebuilding carbs to clean things up.

Re: lada ignition switch
i'm an idiot. i've had one NOS original fiat ignition switch for 124 and i've sold it for 50$
next time you want a lada switch ask me for one, it will be 30$ new and 5$ used.
