1978 routing of speedo cable in dash

I'm working on replacing my clutch pedal and have everything ready to go back in- will be using the short helper bolt method I learned here which should make it a lot easier to hold the clutch pedal in place once situated.
In my dry fitting tests, I noticed that the speedo cable seems to interact with the top of the clutch pedal and is showing a little wear at the spot the old clutch pedal scraped it.
It looks to me like if the speedo cable was led higher in the dash, over the big wire bundle to the ignition and over that short drain pipe, that it might not then interact with the top of the clutch pedal.
Before I pull the instruments to do this, does anybody know if this even matters?
Just want to get this all cleaned up in there before putting pedals back in.

now looking for info on plastic washer placement. I know the big white plastic spacer goes to the right of the brake pedal.
I have one other white plastic piece, but it is just normal washer size. Having a hard time from my pictures seeing if this is situated between the pedals of on the outside of the clutch pedal.
I have it situated on the outside of the clutch pedal, between the clutch pedal and the mounting bracket. Still pretty easy to switch this around at this point.
Now thinking maybe this does not go on the outside, but between the pedals.
Anybody? Thoughts?

thank you. it all went together fairly easily, one I got that spring fully stretched out.
