More Information on babycar

Ok, well, I managed to finally get a look at the "un-repairable structural rust" that my dad has been telling me about. The car is getting rough, I must admit. All of the floor pans need to be cut out and replaced and it is in need of some body rust removal and repair and a new paint job but the concern at this point is the area detailed in the photos in the link below. There is an area of rust (soft enough to be penetrated through) right below the drivers side front shock mount and above the cross member. Does anyone know anything about this area and how structurally significant it is and it is repairable (at an affordable price and effort - unfortunately we are on a budget)? Thanks again for all of your help and thoughts while my wife was trying to work her magic. I have also included a picture of the overall car and the VIN so she can be placed on the still living list, albeit on life support. Thanks again.

That looks like its outside of the pass floorboard. Id take a good look inside in that corner, The towers need insp, the front frame for cracks. The rocker areas need to be sound, you might remove the outter rocker panels and insp.It looks like a good donor car to a better body. But if you want to bring her back, good luck!

it's really the first two photos that look bad. I would plan on rebuilding that front suspension anyway, so if you plan on stripping all the front suspension out, the repairs shouldn't be too difficult. I'd also remove the motor to do that repair, but that's a good time to reseal the engine.
