Still pulling to left....

Post by tomlebatisseur »

But,

We have replace upper bushing and i ve made a alignment check with a specialist.
We have checked pad, caliper permute wheel pad...

Now in acceleration, pulling is disappeared...but there still a very little bit pulling at constant speed. And a very important pulling to the left on braking....

But i ve discovered something when i remove wheel an pad, the left hub is a little bit more hard to turn.
When i drive a long time, when everything is hot the pulling increase.

The pulling is very present on brake....more the car/wheel is hot, more the pulling increase..
After a long travel, the center of the wheel is very hot (both side). and it become noisy a "tchip tchip" like a bird :D

My conclusion is that my front wheel bearing are out of order....

Is someone has had this kind of problem?
The essential question is "is it possible that a very important pulling to one direction when braking is due to a bad front wheel bearing?"

Thanks for your help

Collapsing or plugged rubber brake hoses would be my first thought if all the suspension bushings front and rear are in good condition and the calipers along with the pads have been verified as free and correctly lubricated.

Mine was doing similar when I first bought it and the brake hoses on the right side of the car were plugged solid with deteriorated rubber from brake hoses that were not compatible with synthetic brake fluid. I contacted the previous owner and found this problem started a short while after he had a bargain tire outlet near him bleed the brakes for him after he replaced the rear compensator valve and they refilled the system with full synthetic fluid instead of plain DOT3. The new master brake cylinder was also ruined by it and had to be replace again in less than a year.

I had a similar issue.. Pulled to the left on braking... AFter replacing all my steering components (need to anyways), and rebuilding the brake system (rebuilt brakes, new lines, etc), and replacing the suspension (something I wanted to do anyways), I believe it was caused by a loose shock that was in the left rear.. The top of the shock was just flopping around..

Look for cracks in your crossmember.
You will find pictures of what that looks like with a search of this forum.

A little less likely but still very possible look for cracks on the frame rail by the crossmember:

Most likely brakes are not releasing fully, either because of collapse rubber brake hoses, or the calipers need to be cleaned and rebuilt.
If it is pulling to the left under braking the right side caliper may not be working.

Definitely check the crossmember for cracks and that all bolts/nuts are tight, but this sounds more like a brake issue if the alignment was found to be good.

You can check the wheel bearings by jacking up the car and feeling if there is any play in the wheels.

If it is the wheel bearing this video might help  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LC9MxUCvI8

If it is the caliper this video might help  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXcClOfFmlg
