Noisy front suspension
Noisy front suspension
Had upper and lower control arms ball joints and control arms replaced on my 76 Spider. The work made a big improvement in ride quality but I have a creaky noise coming from front end when coming to a hard stop. Any ideas ?

Re: Noisy front suspension
Perhaps rubber bushings on control arms or stabilizer bar?
Re: Noisy front suspension
All bushings are new and have been checked, maybe this noise is normal and it's just different then the sounds I've
heard before ! I think I'll just give it some drive time to see if things settle in.

Re: Noisy front suspension
I changed the outer stabilizer bushings with ones that were tighter than stock and had a bitch of of time getting them on. They creak a bit due to tightness but not enough to hear from the drivers seat.
If your control arm bushings didn't get their final tight with the weight of the car on them (as opposed to tightening them while the car was in the air) i believe you'd hear creaking and shortened bushing life since they're always in a "worked" position.

Loosened everything and retightened with weight on car I think the problem is solved. Thanks for the advice !
