Hi,
i need to rebuild the brakes on my 1969 AS Spider.
It was pulling to the side, could move it by hand etc.
I pulled the brake calipers off. 1 was frozen, 1 was not put together correctly...
All pistons are corroded and pitted.
So i think i need either new/rebuild calipers or i need to rebuild them myself.
Does anybody have an idea where to get the parts for this?
Either
New calipers
parts:
front left: 128A100-4395656 (48mm pistons)
front right: 128A 100-4395657 (48mm pistons)
rear left: 124A100-4132768 (34mm pistons)
rear right: 124A100-4182767 (34mm pistons)
or
new pistons, seals, dustcovers etc.
The disks seem to be ok, as are the caliper housings.
please help!
thanks
Bart

Re: Rebuilding brakes
Auto Ricambi US is excellent and recommended by many here, as is Mark Allison of Allison Automotive! The used parts section of this forum also is a good bet for finding parts.

Re: Rebuilding brakes
I agree with Pete on the Vendors.
Perhaps consider upgrading to the braded steel hoses as well. If not, at least replace the hoses. New copper washers etc.

Re: Rebuilding brakes
I highly recommend supporting forum sponsors when the parts can't be sourced locally however most brake and suspension parts are available locally from Oreily's, Napa, Advance, AutoZone or Auto Parts Warehouse stores. Don't just browse on-line and give up because if you actually call the local store on the phone or even better walk in and pay them a personal visit they will usually be able to get the parts at competitive prices many times with a lifetime warranty in a few hours or by the next day.
I got my new brake rotors locally for $15 each machined and brake ready.
Most carry Beck and Arnley, Rare Parts or the Store Brand with Lifetime warranties too.
Lifetime master cylinders run about $40, Lifetime front calipers $43, Lifetime rear calipers $76 and standard brake hoses around $20 from Oreillys for example:

Napa makes quality ball joints available for less than $20.
Visit your local parts store and see the manager, you may be surprised what they can do for you and the prices they may offer to keep you as a local customer.

Re: Rebuilding brakes
Great!
Thanks guys.
Just got the parts in (had to get them shiped to europe, can you believe that nobody rebuild brake calipers here and that they are available in the states)
Will put everything back together in the next days.
Looking forward to driving our spider with all wheels spinning freely and the brakes actually working.
Looking at it now, i have had the spider since 06 and the brakes have never worked properly. They were just not put together correctly, parts missing etc...
