Exhaust Adventure...

So this weekend I decided to replace my rather loud decrepit exhaust... Removal was pretty simple, the 3 bolts on the cat were rusted, but an hour in pen oil seemed to work... Here's what I ended up with:



The center muffler had some interesting welding from the PO:



Seems they welded on a smaller pipe between the cat and the center muffler..

After that, I installed the exhaust, but it seems to be sitting low:


The other news is that I have 1.5 to 2 inches between the exhaust pipe and the e-brake cable..

I do know I need to replace those rubber muffler mounts, will those raise up the muffler? Or should I try some more aligning? Everything else seems fine (cat is nice and level, with space between it and the heat shield..).. Ideas?

Is it possible the muffler was welded onto the pipes upside down so the brackets are attached at the top instead of the bottom of the box? Should probably ask first if the brackets are bolted on as per factory or welded on?

when i got my exhaust system i had the same issue. took it to a muffler shop and had the muffler and pipe modified for a proper fit. cost me $50 and took the guy an hour. Was even able to go under the car with him and "supervise".
