I have recently been working on fixing a few things on my spider and some of those things required working in the drivers foot well and removing the accelerator cable bracket at the carb end. Now that I am putting things back together, my gas pedal does not spring back to it's resting position. I don't remember removing a spring in this area, but I am not sure since I have found a spring that I believe (but am not certain) belongs to this car. Can anyone post a pic of what this spring is supposed to look like and where it attached to on both the pedal and whatever other fixed point. I have looked for this info using the search function and came across another post with a person that had the same problem. They received a spring from another member in the mail along with a photo of how it is connected but unfortunately that information was not posted to share with the rest of the forum. Any help will be appreciated.
I have about a month to get this car ready for the open road. It's maiden voyage will be a 600+ mile drive from West Texas (Lubbock) to "Real" South Texas (McAllen) when I move back to my hometown. I've got the engine working pretty well: no over heating, all lights working, engine and carb dialed in, and currently sorting out the breaks with a new master cylinder. Any other pointers for this kind of trip will be greatly appreciated. Thankfully, I will not be making the trip on my own. My family will be assisting me on this move in 2 other trucks, so if need be, the car can be towed/trailered the rest of the way. Thanks to all the contributors on this site in advance.

Re: Gas pedal spring
Sorry, didn't read that far down If memory serves correctly, there is a spring that attaches to the back side of the cable arm under the dash to pull the pedal back up and pull the cable along with it. There is also the spring in the cam mounted linkage, but that rarely if ever comes undone.
Early cars like our 71 has a spring in the engine bay that attaches to a small arm that is hard to see without a flashlight, down below the brake booster. Hope that helps

Re: Gas pedal spring
Is the speed control knob on the left side below the steering wheel shoved all the way in?
This is not a choke knob. It directly controls the throttle position.
