Jim,

I think you meant "Canuck".

From Wikipedia:

The Random House Dictionary notes that "The term Canuck is first recorded about 1835 as an Americanism (American term), originally referring specifically to a French Canadian. This was probably the original meaning, though in Canada and other countries, "Canuck" refers to any Canadian."

So anyway, the check really was in the mail.

Here on the West Coast of Canada - Canuck refers to the local NHL team - which as of tonight, is undefeated. They're scheduled to play their second game of the season tomorrow night.
