wheel lugs

Post by Jazgeek »

anyone know the size/thread for wheel lugs for speedline cromadora's with spacers for my 81?

the ones I have are not in the best shape and I'd like to replace them.

I don't mean to hijack this thread but I have another lug question. My 71 has wheel studs with nuts rather than lug bolts. I remember my X-19 had bolts. Is there a benefit to one over the other other than ease of tire mounting? The other issue is the studs are actually loose when the wheels are off. Should I use loctite or some other thread locker and if so should I use it on the nut side or the hub side? Or should I just get some lug bolts to be correct?

the studs and nuts are normally used with aftermarket wheels. Some studs have an unthreaded portion on the shank and can be tightened down to that point. I'd definitely use some thread locker on them

I would suggest that the original threads may have been stripped or flogged out, that's why bolts fitted.

True wheel "bolts" will have a domed head and splined top section and be pressed into the hub from behind.
Certainly should not be loose at any time !
