Hi guys
just removed my front end as all bushes and ball joints need replaced. Getting the bushes out is never easy but some workshop jerry rigging normally gets the job done.
But then I looked at the bottom arm and thought what the hell. Can someone enlighten me, seeing I don't have specialised tools.
Thanks guys.
how the hell do the front lower wishbone bushes come out.

With a press :
(You have to push the axis at one end and the axis will push the bush at the other end as above)

Reinstall with a spacer not to deform the wishbone :
(first one without the axis as above, second one with axis in place)

ok so the rod will actually push the lower one out and then you have to remove the remaining one on its own then reverse the process to reinstall. Does an application of some grease help when reinstalling ( what am I say, off course it will) what I mean is, does the fit have to be a dry fit for a stronger result or does grease matter.

I am not a specialist but I have put a (very) little bit of grease.

A piece of copper or aluminium between rod and press could help not damaging the rod thread.
You can also use the rod for the second one.murrayarnold wrote:then you have to remove the remaining one on its own

it takes some experience, but nowdays i do it with a big hammer and a 24mm socket.
use grease
old bushings are sometimes rusted solid and you might need to destroy them in order to remove
when you get to re-installing suspension arms, put everything back together but do not tighten the main nuts all the way. then put the floorjack under lower whishbone and lift it up untill you just start lifting the whole car. after that tighten completely

well today I can get the top arm bushes out and the new ball joints installed but the bottom arms will go to the garage across the road. But guess what, its a bloody holiday today. Just my luck. You know the kinda luck when you jump to the shortest line in the market and the person with only 2 items in front of you has fruit the never weighed, and item missing the bar code, cant find their bloody money. Yeah, that's my kinda luck.
I reckon by Thursday night all should be good and Friday morning the wheel alignment will be done,
