Driving at Calabogie Motorsports Park

Post by kilrwail »

This past weekend we had absolutely perfect fall weather – and three consecutive track days at Calabogie Motorsports Park near Ottawa. For those who don’t know, this facility is now eight years old and is Canada’s premier driving experience. The track, buildings, amenities and staff are all first class – you’d never know that the track is not brand new, because its condition is perfect.

Friday night was the last evening two hour lapping session, with the sun very low in the sky just before the chequered flag flew. The fall colours are almost in full bloom, as witnessed by this picture of my Porsche.

On Sunday afternoon, there was an open lapping event because registration for the full lapping day was very low. We suspect people were occupied with closing cottages and the like. I had corded the tires on the Porsche Friday night, so I took the Spider. It was the first time I’d driven it on a track and I had a blast. It was very slow in comparison to almost anything, but with the top down and the beautiful weather, it was a lot of fun.

Here's a video of one lap. At this speed it's easy to learn the line!

Looks great peter.
There are some investors in the area wanting to build a proper track south of me in Osoyoos. Here's hoping it comes to fruition. Track days were on the menu there as well.
