hose size (tank to pump)? 82 F.I. spider

Post by htchevyii »

Hey Guys, does anyone know what size the hose is between the f/tank & pump on a f.i. Spider? The external size looks much larger than the high pressure side, but I don't know if it's larger i.d. or just thicker hose. I don't really want to pull it off until I get the correct hose, (I got enough of a gas bath changing the filter & High pres hose).thanks

Sometimes if you hold your cigarette close to the hose, you can read the size of the hose on the side of it. Of course that might be the last thing you read!

I once saw a guy attempting to install a dist in a small block Chevy use a lighter to look in to align the oil pump shaft. Just as someone said "I wouldn't do that", the crank case vapors ignited & singed off most his hair!

I'm not sure what size it is, but it is definitely a larger I.D., not a thicker hose. I bought a new fuel pump that I intend to install this weekend, and the inlet is visibly larger than the outlet (I believe the high pressure side is 8mm I.D.) I would go out and measure it for you, but I am currently out of town. My guess would be 9 or 10mm I.D.

I just installed my fuel pump today. The inside diameter of the inlet hose in 12mm. I ended up using 7/16 I.D. fuel hose (11.1mm) as the 1/2 inch (12.8mm) seemed too loose.
