Our local car club which had its own hillclimb circuit venue and clubrooms, has been forced to relocate due to the wishes of an energy company that desires access to the coal beneath the ground.
Prolonged negotiations resulted in our club being provided with a new venue and enough money to establish a better circuit, with pit areas, new clubrooms, timing facilities and so on.
In a couple of weeks the 1400 metre (or 1 mile) circuit will hold its first event and although the clubrooms and timing tower are still concrete pads at ground level, the track and pit areas have been sealed and approved for competition.
At the last Working Bee at the track, I bolted a camera to the 124 AC coupe's rollcage and drove a lap to capture some video for those competiors unfamilar with the layout. Unfortunately it was raining, and I drove quite circumspectly so as not to make an everlasting fool of myself on Youtube . But, I think you will be able to see what a magnificent circuit it will be to drive flat out on.

Wow, that's pretty cool. The car sounds great, and the track looks top notch. Wish I had one of those close by here! How far do you have to travel to get to the circuit?

About 30 minutes. The track is in an area known as the Haunted Hills, and quite a distance from any residential development, so there are no restrictions on usage or noise. At present we only have aurthority to run it in a clockwise direction, but with additional barriers and fencing it will be possible to run a number of formats utilising the cross-over to even make a figure 8.ventura ace wrote: How far do you have to travel to get to the circuit?

We are holding a round of our State Hillclimb Championship in August and next year it will probably be the venue for the Australian Hillclimb Championship.
