Wiper bearing service

Post by Robertglab »

Has anyone pulled apart and cleaned/ serviced the wiper arm joints, I can't seem to figure out how to open them up to try. I have the whole system torn down on the workbench, I just can't get into where I thing needs the most love. Any thoughts?

I just cleaned the joints as best I could with WD40. Then lubed them with lithium grease and worked the grease in as best I could.

Probably not optimal but I didn't break anything either :D

I tried to pull them apart, absolutely destroyed the thing, but I found a replacment carrage for 79$. I knew it might expensive when I resorted to the hammer and vice. http://www.midwest-bayless.com/storefro ... =302475999

Thanks anyway,

Some guys drill a hole into the bearing to clean and lube, then silicone the hole shut.
Seems to work. Do a search.

Motorcycle chainlube is available in a spray can. Using the small tube in the nozzle the lubricant can be directed to anywhere you want it, the solvent evaporates and you're left with a sticky lubricant in the bits you can't reach.
