Well Andy...
The kid in me has always wanted to tinker with a set of webers so the 44s are on the shelf and I will do everything I can to make them work. Beek is porting my intake at the moment and as you know I have cold air going to them so I don't think I could ask for a better chance to make them work. I have a very nice single plane intake on the shelf as well and if I find a 38adl I may just buy it to have options.
So, I'm just joking with Brad A at the moment...
My sarcasm is almost as endless as his!!

So... Either I change the pulley on the alt, change the crank and water pump pulleys, or move it back to the drivers side. Problem with that, the old upper bracket doesn't fit the news alt very well and it means pulling wires out and moving the, to the drivers side...

Bummer, was afraid of that....I got my pulleys from Millers Mule along with the proper lower bracket, I believe it was less that 200 dollars, you could probably get a good percentage of your money back by selling the other pullies.

The upper drivers side bracket DOESN'T work on the exhaust side. You could probably make one however use a strong flat bar, the lower OEM brackets had a nasty habit of bending.

I already decided that I will have a pulley made for the alt or swap out the crank and water pump pulleys as the whole set up crashes into my air box on the drivers side.

I also think that putting the alternator back on the passenger side helps "balance" the look of the engine and alows you to show off more custom parts!!

I feel for you though....I have a bunch of new parts I bought early on in my project that i will not be using now!

I hear you Pat, I have had my share of trial and error.
I will take my alt pulley to my machinist tomorrow and see what he says about making something. I agree that with the alt on the drivers side it gets very crowded and I have never had issues with the alt on my 77, on the passengers side. Plus, I already bought the upper and lower bracket to switch it so at this point, the alt pulley is the easiest change. In any case, thanks for throwing up the flag and getting me started on finding a solution.

I've got the same issue on my 1800, although not as pronounced. Getting a new bottom bracket is on my list of to-dos... In the meantime I've been keeping a careful eye on the belt.... And it's done 3000 miles ok.....

Looking at it this morning, my first thought is a two part lower bracket due to alignment with the existing studs. Or, I could drill and tap new holes in the block...

I bought a new lower bracket, from Miller's Mule. AutoRicambi also has one on their web site. I have a 74 so the alternator was already on the passenger side. I don't think the 95 amp alternator fits on that side without the new bracket - otherwise you have pully alignment issues

Once I swapped out the bracket everything lined up fine.

Once you modify a braket for the bottom on the exhaust side I suspect you will need a custom solution for the top bracket as well for proper belt adjustment and alignment of the alternator pulley. It does look awesome... In fact, I think the alternator looks better on the exhasut side.
