Back up wiring question

Post by Texsardo »

On an earlier thread, I asked where the reverse light switch was located on transmission and I think I found where someone had put a bolt where it went. Not sure because I cannot find a photo showing its location. Either way, I can not understand why the PO would take it out and put a bolt in its place. Strange!!! Well either way, I will order the switch w/pigtail attached.
What I need to know is where, what, how, color of wire, location, etc the wire it connects to is located. I have the upper and lower center boots off. The upper has nothing in it. No radio, light, cigarette lighter but I did find the Hazard light switch hanging amid all crap load of loose wiring. At least I can now at least put the Hazard switch in the proper slot. So I guess some of the loose wiring would attach to reverse wiring fitting. Any help, reference or especially photos would help. I discovered this mess when I went to put a new lower shift boot (the nice one with foam around it) on the shifter shaft. The metal plate that holds it down has a wiring rubber plug on upper right. So by deduction I figured that is where the wiring would come from transmission to harness wiring. So right now it is not driving around having a good time because of this reverse switch wiring problem.
Thanks, Texsardo

Lloyd

Here is a link to the wiring diagram I was telling you about from Brad Artigue specific to our 78's

http://www.artigue.com/fiatcontent/Wiring_1978.pdf

Switch is is in the lower left corner on page 3, looks like one is white & the other is light blue (I'd need to blow up the diagram to be sure.
Hope this helps

OK Don, great wiring diagrams. I don't know what each symbol means but will google them and pencil in. Thanks again for the diagrams.
Did you look for the seat belt? How about the photos of the wheels you want to sell.

Lloyd, sorry to jump the post with info for you.

Heres a pic of the wheels

Image

13 X 5.5 BWA's from Italy dated 77 so were probably on her since new with pirelli P400's 185/70-13, good tread but older tires, basket part painted gold & the lips painted silver .

Haven't dug for the belts yet but found the license plate mount, looks like a generic one but your if you want it.

Let me know what you think.
