Hi
Help. I took apart my alt. about a year and half ago and being a smart ass, thought that I could remember how the pulleys and shims all went on. I need to know the sequence in which theses go on the shaft. I have 2 small washers, one is thicker than the other, 2 large shims/washers that have slightly different steps on them , the 2 pulley halfs and of course the fan. I took everything apart to glass bead and powder coat the housings and plate all the hardware. If you look at the pictures ( hopefully you can see them ) if you number everything from left to right, you have 1) large washer/ shim with a small step inside 2 ) large washer with a much larger step and then 3) smaller steel washers first one is thicker and 4) second small washer thinner and then 5 & 6 ) the 2 pulley halfs and fianlly 7) the fan
These are not in any order, just the way I laid them out to take pictures
I need to know which sequence they go first, the what is next etc as well as the the orientation of each piece, step side in or out
I really should have written something down or taken a picture but ???

Re: Alternator restoration
Thanks, already have one. Do you see all the parts that I have pictured in those diagrams? I don't .
What I really need is someone that has either has one apart or an alt off the car where they could take a picture of the pulleys and fan, that would be helpful.
Thanks, Rick

Re: Alternator restoration
Here are a couple links to photos of the 65A Bosch alternator fan/pulley and spacers in order of assembly from my 1981 Spider. I don't know if it is the original alternator.

Don't know what I am doing wrong. Last 2 times I went to post photos from photo bucket it didn't work.

Re: Alternator restoration
Hi,
Yes, that is a huge help, one question, the large washer/spacer that looks gold cad plated on the right, where does that go. You appear to have 3 large washers, I only have the 2. What is behind the fan to space it out from the alt.
Do you know where the 2 small washers/spacers go?
Getting there
Thanks, Rick

Re: Alternator restoration
The washer furthest to the right goes on the shaft first after the case halves have been assembled. The rest of the parts are in order to follow.
I don't remember the small washers you are talking about. I do recall there was at least 1 press fit washer like bearing keeper that pressed onto the the shaft. If you have 2 maybe one went on the shaft first, then the bearing cover then the bearing then another keeper. I remember the keepers OD fit into the alternator cover tight.
Sorry I can't be of more help
Dave
