Not sure where to post this...
I am converting my Spider's A/C from r134a to r12. The system will be completely flushed, new drier, etc.
What oil do I use? I heard Esther oil works, but the one available at the parts store says it's for r134a systems that have been converted. It also has 1 oz. of 'performance enhancer', and I am a bit nervous what that is, and is it compatible with r12.
Does anybody know for sure?
Thanks,

Mineral oil is what was used on R12. I think O'reilly carrys it. Maybe Auto zone.

OK, I found mineral oil at NAPA. O'reilly did not have any.
I am going back to r12 to improve system efficiency. It looks like the small size of the X1/9 evaporator in my system is the limiting factor (no, not the condenser), so I want to see if r12 will improve things before I try to fit a larger evaporator in the box (which would be a huge pain).

Try running your AC with a house fan in front of the condenser to see if the added air flow helps. ???
