Rotor Turning

Hi guys - I have the standard solid rotors for a 13" wheel - just wondering what the tolerance for turning them is? How far can they be taken down to before I'm looking at a new set? I have a hunch that these are newer, they've just rusted over from being dormant.

for me, they would have to be really rusty before i would resort to turning. I've had good results with a sanding block and 80 grit emory cloth. The brake pads do a pretty good job of rust removal on their own.

According to the shop manual they are nominally 9.95 to 10.15 mm thick. Minimum allowable after refacing is 9.35 (front) and 9.45 (Back). Minimum from wear is 9 MM.

If you're having someone else reface them then I'd check the price before I did it. You can get new ones at AutoRicambi for about $16.

Thank you for the replies on this one! I had thought about purchasing new ones, but given the weight of the rotors the postage to East Coast Canada could potentially be hefty. Shortly after the original post I found out that a coworker is good friends with the shop manager at a local Hyundai dealership. They still have a lathe machine and are willing to do the rotors for free. Can't beat that. The only missing piece to the puzzle were the tolerance values.
