How to best power replacement radio?

I'm looking to replace the radio in my 1976 Fiat Spider and was wondering the best way to power it. With old, manual button type radios, it didn't matter if it only got power when the key was turned but modern radios require power all the time to retain station presets, no?

What's the best source of power for a modern radio in order to provide power required to maintain the presets?

most people use the lighter circuit since it's right below the radio

modern radios with those nifty little presets and the clock built in require two power supplies. Generally they expect a continually hot and a switched hot wire.

because of the nearness to the standard location in our cars, we usually grab the cigar lighter power source for the presets. window wiper/heater blower is a good one for the switched power source.

Thanks for the info. Since I've paid my mechanic way too much $$ to address numerous electrical issues already, I'll give this info to a trained radio installer and let them handle the installation of a new, modern radio.
