Re: Moderators!!!! New registration problems!
thanks for the heads up. I haven't received any activation requests in a few days. I'll have to check out the system and see what's happened
Re: Moderators!!!! New registration problems!
for reference of who is complaining, you can check the recent post at Mira.
Re: Moderators!!!! New registration problems!
I've avoided Mira for a couple of months now. Odd, but not one of those complaining have emailed me.

fixed - thank you!
LOL...it took getting referred to this thread to find the email. all good now. I probably peruse much to rapidly to notice if there's any static between the two sites. Anyway, thank you very much Mark for fixin' the login. I've been around Mira since dinosaurs and large water wheels were still operating their servers, and it's been nice in that over the years I've gotten to know & gotten to meet a lot of the folks at FiAT events & such. Mostly only lurked here, but my foray into another marque & it's online message board that uses a similar format to this one got my interest lately. So, in keeping with the forum topic (not the thread), I'm in east TN, and a long-time FIAT nut who's had more FIATs in his driveway over the years than he can remember...mostly 124s. I currently am lucky enough to own a '71 124 Spider, a '70 (European spec) 124 Coupe, a '72 124 Coupe and a '68 (project) 124 Spider....and, still a TON (literally) of spare parts that I'm thinning out via club stuff, Ebay, etc. (hoping that I don't actually need that much stuff!). I'm also working on reviving my FIAT & FIAT Coupe site to maybe help entertain & share info for folks who either need new info or have forgotten it...anyway, thanks! So Cal Mark wrote:I've avoided Mira for a couple of months now. nothing personal, Chris; but i cannot help commenting here. Please don't take me wrong....but i cannot help myself. We aim here to keep things friendly at all times, and I certainly appreciate that atmosphere.
but it sure seems like an easy thing to do "over there" at Mira to bash this forum anytime the basher feels he's been slighted by folks here. and, once he posts such a flame, doesn't it seem incredulous how quick others jump on the band wagon?
wonder what would happen if "they" attempted to say nothing (implausible), neutral, or (gasp) favorable things about about this site and the people in it?
I remember a guy FLAMING us here cuz he "couldn't" get on the forum after he was "invited". Once i read that he was granted access long before he FLAMED this site....he still never showed up with a post....and he didn't apologize for his words.
Does everything have to be done the Mira way? What if everything was done the Mira way? I admit that i use that forum regularly; but, i would never recommend anyone to go there with out ample warning.

Re: Moderators!!!! New registration problems!
oh...my only reason for quoting (other than that I was going to respond w/ a 'thank you' anyway) was that in my case only (that is, the only one i've really paid attention to....sorry, just being honest), as soon as i found a link to the Mark's email, i shot him an email & he fixed the deal. Thus...ultimately no big deal. In fact, to be honest, if he'd just given me a 'buzz off' response, ultimately not a big deal either...but, thanks for not doing the latter all the same. I've never paid a bunch of attention to the ebb & flow of board politics. If I were going to get that worked up for real, i'd do so over something I think really matters. This is fun & I like sharing idea & learning (and sometimes even being helpful) with other car nuts like me. The pride, the bashing, all that crap I just view with a squinted eye & dont' take too seriously. Personally, I'm not a fan of real tight security on BBS sites, but if I'm not running it, I'm going to complain (I mean, in a serious way, that is). So, if someone took my 'hey -what gives with this' as bashing, sorry...i guess you've got to know me in person to know that I probably wear my own pride on these things rather loosely & tend to assume other do also. I don't know of ANY board like this or even real-live car club that doesn't have it's group of old-schoolers who think their way is the best & another group of folks who "used to participate before the scene got so...." and so on. Me think it's human nature. FIATs are damned cool cars & I got a kick out of reading the introductions to see all these folks getting into (or re-entering) the FIAT ownership world. Cool! Thanks all & glad to be here.
Oh...and in case anyone wants to really get pissed, I saw off LE Spider #015 to the crusher today (it looked like this a few days prior)
(seriously, that one had some rust repair a previous owner had let get far too far away from him)
...but, I really do have & keep a really nice 1971 124 Spider...only 41K miles!

Welcome Chris,
I say we put an end to this thread everyone and start only with Happy-Happy threads.
Chris, great '71. Really...our old codgers are our best helpers here. No attitudes here, just some friendly wrinkle paint cam cover ribbing! Welcome.

Very nice looking Spider Chris. Tell me, how do you keep a '71 down to 41,000 mi.? I've put 5,000 on mine in 7 months. I can't haul lumber in it, or I'd be driving it to work too!

Nice 71 Chris! At least it looks like you got all the good parts off the LE. I just brought home another 71 that is so bad, it has a rust hole through all three rocker panels almost as big as my head. I'm still trying to figure out how that happened.

Ron ,have you given any thought to putting a rack on it? Our tube bumpers could surely support a framing package! Maybe a toolbox ,too.....Hmmm

NO PROBLEM
hey folks - thanks. if I had a rack on my '71 to haul stuff, I'd probably have more miles on it too! In a way it's kinda lame, I think, to have a '71 Spider with stupid low miles...but, on the other hand it's kinda cool too, i suppose. I happened to luck into meeting someone who, like me, owned far more cars than ever practical at any point in time & had this Spider & it's companion since the early '70s - a '72 Coupe also with stupid low miles, and was ready to pass ownership (stewardship is really a better word for it) on. It's not a trailer queen or anything...it's a driver & I drive it. In fact, I drove it home to TN from WI last year...but it's a nice car. Right now I'm (literally , right now) in the process of converting the carb to a DFEV w/ a '74 124 style intake manifold & it's sporting a cool Abarth exhaust I found NOS last year. A few more slight adjustments to the running gear (Konis, tidying up some wiring, maybe the Revolution wheels I'm darned glad I didn't sell a few months ago, & some other stuff) & it will feel more 'mine' but the thing is about miles is that I have a bunch of cars + my work requires me to drive their car as a daily driver....so my problem ends up being more along the lines of not putting enough miles on cars rather than racking up too many! FIATs are made to be driven, so the '71 and it's stablemates (two 124 Coupes) get driven as much as they can...which, still isn't enough!

Re: Moderators!!!! New registration problems!
Spoken like a contractor Craig. My work truck is a crew cab with A/C, XM radio, cruise control, electric seats, the works, but if there was a way, brother I'd leave it home and take the Spider! Gas prices not withstanding.
