I'm in the process of replacing my clutch after a motor refresh and a gearbox rebuild. I had the flywheel reground and now, when I test fit the clutch cover on the flywheel, the dowels are ever so slightly off from the locating holes on the cover. Can I gently "persuade" them into alignment with some hammer taps? Or, will they work their way into the holes when I tighten down the clutch bolts? The dowels look like they are right at the locating holes, just off by a mm or so (maybe less).
I've gotten this far and I don't want to f#%^ it up now...
Thanks,
Brian

Re: flywheel dowels and clutch cover
If it goes on with gentle tapping then it's fine. It should not be off by a mm, I hope you misjudged that

Re: flywheel dowels and clutch cover
It went on with a couple of gentle taps. I am sure it was a lot less than a mm...my calibrated eyeballs need to be re-calibrated!
Thanks!
